I love India very much and I have been coming here for many years as a tourist, having traveled to different states and cities of India, I love this country with all my heart for its versatility, care and respect (not only for people) and I would really like you all see how wonderful it is, be sure to come here, BUT do not book your stay at Govt 5* hotel Ashok in New Delhi, the hotel has 550 rooms, all booked and all tourists are forced to sleep under loud beats from the nightclub down till 2am, and drunk shout till 3am, once when everyone finally left and I tried to catch my chance to fall asleep, some trucks arrived and loudly threw out the garbage, waking up all the animals in the area. In our case we paid a handsome price for booking with them, getting pushed around by the staff for hours, yelled at by our clients and have gotten charged for something we never authorised!!!!… They are a true example of Indian hospitality that anyone should not have to go through, even if it is for free…. Please stay away from this property even if it means that you have to opt for a 3 star place as all “Hotel Ashok” cares about is money and do not understand the meaning of abiding by rules or service. ![]() Moreover, they charged our credit card without our knowledge or consent. In spite of our repeated requests, we were not given access to the General Manager. We tried to reason out for a period of 2 days that the 3.5 hrs delay in getting all 5 rooms completely messed up their evening and this should be the least of the compensation offered by the hotel. The hotel contacted us the next day saying that there is an unpaid bill. Next morning the clients paid a part of the food bill and left the rest unpaid stating that it was the delay from hotels end that forced them to eat in the hotel. When they finally checked in, they ordered snacks in the room such that they could get ready and eat before they dash out for their performance. ![]() Finally we had a colleague physically go to the hotel and literally scream, only after that they got rooms- post 5.30 pm!!! While the 3.5 hrs delay happened from the hotel’s end, no food or beverage was offered for guests waiting for hours at the reception for no fault of theirs. Several phone calls from us were being transferred from 1 department to another for over 2 hrs. Come 3pm, 4pm, 5pm nothing moved and their requests for check in fell on deaf ears. Our guests hoped that after a quick check in, they would freshen up and be at the venue by 3.30 pm where food and refreshments were arranged for them. Though we had requested early check in, till the check in time of 2 pm there was no room given. Given written permission only to use for the room bookings of our guests who were to perform at an event close by at 6pm. We had booked 5 rooms in this hotel for our guests using our credit card….
